How do you know when they are real & when they are just doing it for the money? I would really like to visit one someday, but I don't want to get
ripped off or something.
For me since I can read peoples aura or get feelings about them(im slighlty psychic myself),I can know wether theyre real or not. Id say just feel them out.
It depends on where you live and where you go to get a reading.
I do most of my readings through a couple local new age shops. And both new age shops have business cards or flyers of psychics who do readings on display. I
have had a few folks call me because one of the shops referred them to me (I've done a couple parties and a few individuals).
The going rate in our area is 30 to 40 bucks for a half hour reading (I charge that for a reading, whether it takes an hour or a half hour).
My best advice is to go to a local new age shop and see if they recommend anyone. They may even have a fair or something where you can get a "free"
reading. I've done several of those fairs, for "tips appreciated" (which in my area means I get JACK!). If you want to try that out, a five
dollar tip is usually adequate. That can also give you an idea of who or what is out there.
This weekend, I'm working the Ren Faire and I'm fairly sure people aren't coming to the Ren Faire for anything serious.
But honestly, other than a few famous psychics- its hard to make a living at this. I certainly don't make enough money at it. Mostly because of where I
live- I'm sure in a touristy area, I'd make more.
